After setting a target of 213/7 and winning the first T20I by 43 runs, India restricted Sri Lanka to 161/9 in the second game. Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka expressed disappointment with his team's performance, particularly the middle-order collapse. "I am not really happy with the way we batted at the death overs. We must improve. In This pitch, when the ball gets older, it gets difficult to bat. As professional cricketers, we have to do better," Asalanka said. He also pointed out the challenges posed by the weather and the wet outfield, which affected their bowling performance. "We were behind by 15-18 runs. Weather also played its part. It’s not easy to bowl eight overs with a wet outfield," he commented.
